Your Questions, Answered

The Colorado Majors are the biggest tournaments in Colorado tennis, held annually from June through September. These events have deep history and attract top players from around the region. The four majors are:
  • Denver City Open (June)
  • Broomfield Open (July)
  • Longmont Open (September)
  • Colorado State Open (September)
Each major offers ranking points, a variety of divisions, and a chance to compete for prestigious titles.

The Colorado Grand Slam is achieved by winning all four Colorado Majors in the same calendar year. This rare feat showcases a player's dominance across multiple events and surfaces. Grand Slam winners receive special recognition, awards, and are celebrated within the Colorado tennis community.

Most Colorado Majors offer multiple divisions to accommodate various skill levels. USTA-sanctioned events typically offer NTRP-rated divisions (3.0 through Open), while UTR events use Universal Tennis Rating for competitive matching. Some tournaments also offer Family Divisions (mother/son, father/daughter, etc) and Inclusive Divisions. Check individual tournament details for available divisions.

Registration for each major typically opens 4-6 weeks before the tournament date. The Denver City Open kicks off the season in June, followed by the Broomfield Open in July, then Longmont Open and Colorado State Open in September. Sign up for notifications to be alerted when registration opens.

The 2025 Colorado State Open featured a prize pool of $5,000+ for top finishers in the Open Division. Denver City Open occasionally features prize money for open divisions. The other majors focus on ranking points and the prestige of winning a major championship. Check individual tournament pages for current prize and award details.
